Investigators said the suspect approached the teen and asked for assistance with a problem involving his vehicle. Police said the girl then entered the man’s vehicle, where the alleged assault occurred.
The teen and her guardian reported the incident to authorities later Saturday evening. She was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital for a medical evaluation, police said.
In an update released Tuesday, investigators said they do not believe the reported assault was random. Police said the case appears to have “involved parties who had initiated mutual contact before the reported encounter.”
Authorities described the suspect as about 6 feet tall, weighing between 200 and 250 pounds, with dark hair. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and black athletic shorts.
The suspect’s vehicle is described as an older model gray sport utility vehicle.
Police asked anyone with information to call them at 847-368-5300.
Further information was not immediately available.
