A Mexican national accused of killing his wife on their wedding night in Illinois has been extradited to the United States after spending more than a decade as a fugitive, the FBI announced Thursday.
Arnoldo Jimenez was returned to U.S. custody more than a year after Mexican authorities, working alongside U.S. law enforcement, arrested him on Jan. 30, 2025, in Monterrey, Mexico.
Jimenez had been listed among the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives in connection with the alleged killing.
At the time of his arrest, authorities said he was considered the fourth-most wanted fugitive in the United States.
In a statement posted on X, the FBI’s Chicago field office described Jimenez’s return as a significant step in the long-running case.
“No matter how much time has passed or where a criminal may be in the world, the FBI will never stop in our pursuit of justice,” the agency said.
Authorities have not disclosed a motive for the killing or a date for his first court appearance.
