SANFORD, Fla. – Sanford police are looking into an early Saturday shooting that sent one person to the hospital.

According to the Sanford Police Department, officers were called around 1:40 a.m. to the area of Hartwell Avenue and Mitch Court after a report of gunfire.

Police said responding officers found a person suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital and was expected to survive.

Authorities said the case is still under active investigation.

It was the second shooting reported in Sanford on Saturday morning, though police said the two incidents do not appear to be related.
