Maryland woman Ashley Andrews upset over Taco Bell wait time allegedly flashed gun at workers

Maryland deputies said a woman upset over the wait for her Taco Bell order allegedly dared employees to “meet her outside,” pulled up her shirt to expose a handgun and put her hand on the weapon’s grip during the dispute.

Ashley Andrews, 30, was taken into custody June 18 after deputies were called to a Taco Bell in Chester, Maryland, following reports that a customer had shown a firearm while arguing with staff, according to the Queen Anne’s County Office of the Sheriff.

Employees told investigators Andrews grew angry about how long her food was taking and challenged workers to come out to the parking lot before allegedly displaying the gun and making threatening remarks.

When deputies reached the restaurant, they detained Andrews along with another person in her group who authorities said was part of an active verbal altercation.

The sheriff’s office said deputies found a loaded firearm on Andrews.

Investigators later examined surveillance footage and a personal video recorded by an employee, both of which appeared to back up the workers’ version of events, authorities said.

According to deputies, the video showed Andrews raising her shirt to reveal the handgun and keeping her hand on its grip as she continued arguing with employees.

The incident took place at the Taco Bell in the Kent Town Market shopping center on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

A loaded firearm was recovered from Andrews when deputies arrived, authorities said.

According to reporting from Law&Crime, court records show Andrews was initially held on a $5,000 bond before posting bail and securing release the following day.

She was charged with second-degree assault, handgun on person, disorderly conduct and reckless endangerment, according to the sheriff’s office. Authorities also said she was also banned from the Taco Bell property.

According to Law&Crime, Andrews is being represented by a public defender and invoked her right to a speedy trial. A court appearance is scheduled for July.
