LOS ANGELES — Disney is marking 626 Day with a new trip back to the world of “Lilo & Stitch.”
The studio announced a brand-new animated short, “Lilo & Scratch,” which will debut exclusively in theaters this November ahead of Disney’s upcoming feature film “Hexed.”
The release represents a major moment for the beloved franchise, bringing Stitch back into a Walt Disney Animation Studios project for the first time since the original 2002 film “Lilo & Stitch.”
Fans at Annecy were treated to an early preview of the short, which brings together talent from different eras of the franchise. Chris Sanders returns to voice Stitch, while Maia Kealoha reprises her role as Lilo after starring in the 2025 live-action adaptation.

This time, Stitch appears to have some serious competition in the mischief department. The story follows Lilo as she welcomes Scratch, a mysterious and troublemaking cat, into their ‘ohana. But when Lilo leaves Stitch in charge while she runs errands, the new arrival quickly sends everything spiraling into chaos.
In a nod to the franchise’s origins, the short is designed to preserve the visual spirit of the 2002 classic. Filmmakers are blending hand-drawn and CG animation with watercolor backgrounds to capture the familiar look and feel of the original film.
Audiences can see the mayhem unfold this fall when “Lilo & Scratch” plays exclusively in theaters before “Hexed,” which opens Nov. 25.
Disney is the parent company of Walt Disney Animation Studios and this ABC station.
