Bronx rodeo where rider was hurled from bull and trampled on didn't have permit: report

A Bronx rodeo where a bull rider was hurt after being thrown and trampled reportedly did not have the required permit to stage the event.

The organizers of Sunday’s rodeo in Baychester had not secured approval from the New York City Health Department before the event went ahead, WABC reported.

Under New York City rules, rodeo permits are granted through the city’s Commissioner of Health.

The event, billed as “Rodeo Tierra Caliente” and described by the NYPD as sanctioned, left a 25-year-old man injured after he was bucked off the bull.

Video reviewed by The Post shows the rider being jolted repeatedly before he was tossed from the animal’s back, then trampled and dragged through the dirt.

Stunned spectators quickly moved in to assist the injured man, saying he seemed to lose consciousness briefly and was bleeding.

“He was hit pretty hard. He was doing his thing on the bull, but he got caught up in the spins, man, and he got hit on top, threw down, stepped on, got unconscious,” fellow bull rider Gato said.

Off-duty Brooklyn EMT Melanie Ayala told News12 that the announcer called on attendees to stop filming.

The bull rider was taken to the Jacobi Medical Center and is expected to make a full recovery. The animal was also secured.

Rodeo Tierra Caliente describes itself as the number one company for Mexican-style rodeos throughout the US.

The Post has approached the company for comment.
