President Trump on Friday night reiterated his warning that Iran would be “decimated and destroyed” if its leadership carried out any plot to assassinate him.
“1000 Missiles are Locked and Loaded and aimed at the Islamic Republic of Iran, with thousands of more to immediately follow, should the Iranian Government act on its threat, pronounced in many corners of the Globe, to assassinate, or attempt to assassinate, the sitting President of the United States of America, in this case, ME!” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.
He continued: “Orders have already been given, and the U.S. Military is ready, willing, and able, for a one year period of time, subject to extension, to completely decimate and destroy all areas of Iran – PRAISE BE TO ALLAH! ”
Trump also told The Post that he has long been a target of Tehran. “I’ve been on their list for a long time. That’s what we’re dealing with,” he said. “… The only thing is, I’ve left instructions — if anything happens, to just literally bomb them at levels that they’ve never seen before.”
Iran has publicly called for Trump’s assassination since 2020, after he ordered the strike that killed Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Gen. Qasem Soleimani.
This week in Tehran, banners threatening retaliation against Trump were visible as Iranians prepared funeral rites for late supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed on the war’s opening day.
During a burial ceremony Thursday, one placard carried by dozens of Khamenei loyalists declared: “WE WILL KILL TRUMP.”
In other areas, crowds could be heard chanting, “I swear by the blood of the Supreme Leader, Trump, we will kill you!”
At the NATO summit in Turkey earlier this week, Trump openly talked about Iran’s desire to kill him.
“They had leaders, they’re gone. Then they had another set of leaders, they’re gone. Now they have another set of leaders — they may be gone, who knows?” Trump said at the summit. “And you know what? I may be gone too. Because I’m their No. 1 target — it’s out all over the place. Because they’re scum.”
“That’s the way they act and that’s the way they’ve done it for 47 years,” he added.
