RedState on Thursday highlighted a striking but not entirely unexpected report involving New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s administration, Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations, and a planned meeting between the ambassador and a city official that had been slated for Tuesday.
According to City Journal, Ana María Archila, commissioner of Mamdani’s Office for International Affairs, “was scheduled to meet with Amir-Saeid Iravani, Iran’s permanent representative to the United Nations, at 2 United Nations Plaza, alongside two other senior officials in the Mayor’s Office for International Affairs on July 7 at 11 a.m.”
The meeting was reportedly called off after the State Department became aware of it. The report also stated that “Archila allegedly did not inform Mayor Mamdani of the meeting; she was reprimanded for the move and directed to cancel the meeting.”
