Darline Graham Nordone Biography – Darline Graham Nordone Wiki

Darline Graham Nordone, the younger sister of the late Sen. Lindsey Graham, is set to serve as South Carolina’s United States senator-designate. Graham died on July 11, 2026, at 71, after suffering a ruptured aorta tied to cardiovascular disease, according to preliminary findings from the District of Columbia medical examiner that were released by his office.

South Carolina Republican Gov. Henry McMaster said at a press conference on Monday, July 13, 2026, that Nordone would take over her brother’s Senate seat and serve out the remainder of the term, which runs through January 2027. Republicans will choose a nominee for the November midterms in an Aug. 11 special election.

“It is such a privilege to get to finish some of his important work, and I promise to work hard over the next several months to support the president and carry forward the efforts of my brother on behalf of the citizens of South Carolina and the United States,” Darline said.

She said the appointment felt like a fitting way to honor her brother’s legacy. “I think this is what Lindsey would have wanted, and I plan to honor him in this way,” she added, before addressing him directly: “I miss you more than I can even put into words, but I’m gonna do this. I got it. Thank you.”

Nordone’s appointment came after she received public backing from President Trump earlier in the day. In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “I recommended, to Governor Henry McMaster, Lindsey Graham’s wonderful sister, Darline, to serve as interim Senator from the Great State of South Carolina. This would be a fabulous tribute to Lindsey, who loved her dearly!”

Before stepping into the national political spotlight, Nordone worked as an optician and held roles in state government, including with the South Carolina Commission for the Blind and the Department of Employment and Workforce.
