Motorola is aiming squarely at heavy phone users with the new Edge 70 Max, a flagship Android handset built for demanding everyday use, from marathon video streaming to graphics-heavy mobile gaming. The headline feature is its charging tech: paired with a massive battery and fast wired charging, the Motorola Edge 70 Max becomes the first Android phone to offer full 25W wireless Qi2 charging since Google introduced the Pixel 10 Pro XL last year.
That gives Motorola an edge over several other Qi2-compatible Android phones, including the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro Fold, and HMD Skyline, all of which top out at 15W for magnetic wireless charging. The Edge 70 Max also packs a much larger 7100mAh silicon-carbon battery, compared with the 5200mAh cell inside the Pixel 10 Pro XL. Motorola says users can expect “all-day battery life,” though it has not shared more specific endurance figures. When plugged in, the phone supports 90W wired charging, which the company claims can deliver up to 12 hours of use from an eight-minute charge.
Under the hood, the Motorola Edge 70 Max runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, paired with 8GB of RAM and storage options reaching up to 1TB. Its 6.82-inch OLED screen is designed to stand out as well, with Motorola claiming peak brightness of up to 7,000 nits and a 144Hz refresh rate for smoother scrolling and more responsive gameplay. On the camera front, the rear setup includes a 50-megapixel Sony Lytia 710 main sensor for everyday photography alongside an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens, while a 32-megapixel front camera handles selfies and video calls.
The Motorola Edge 70 Max begins launching today across the UK and Europe, with pricing starting at £699.99 / €799.99, which works out to under $950. Motorola has not announced any plans for a US release.
