Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu departed for Washington on Monday for high-level talks with President Trump and to pay tribute to the late Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC).
According to The Times of Israel, the 76-year-old leader left from an Israeli Air Force site near Beersheba instead of Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport, a move reportedly prompted by possible threats from Iran.
In a Hebrew post shared on social media, Netanyahu said his meeting with Trump would cover “all the issues on the table,” emphasizing that Iran would be the central focus.
“Our goal is clear,” Netanyahu wrote, saying Israel aims “to safeguard Israel’s security, strengthen its power, and expand the circle of peace around us.”
The Israeli prime minister’s trip comes as the United States has halted its strikes on Iran following 13 straight nights of air attacks.
Speaking on Fox News Channel’s “Sunday Morning Futures,” Netanyahu said the US and Israel had pushed Iran’s nuclear program back by “a good few years,” while warning that Tehran could still try to rebuild it. He added that both allies must remain on “constant, constant watch” to prevent that from happening.
