Lindsay Clancy sobs during opening statements

Lindsay Clancy wept in court as prosecutors opened their case by naming each of her three children.

Plymouth Assistant District Attorney Shanan Buckingham began her opening statement by focusing on the young victims.

“Cora. She had just turned 5,” Buckingham told the court, describing her as “sweet, silly, smart” and a little girl who loved sparkly dresses, hair bows, princesses and baby dolls.

“Dawson. He was 3,” the prosecutor continued, calling him “a boy’s boy” who could be rambunctious, funny and full of energy, with a love for trucks.

Buckingham then spoke of the youngest child, saying, “Callan was just 8 months old. Always smiling with chunky cheeks. A sweet little baby.”

As those details were read aloud, the camera turned to Clancy, who was seen sobbing at the defense table.

“We are here, ladies and gentlemen, because they are not,” Buckingham said, alleging the children were “strangled, deliberately and meticulously” and killed by Clancy.

The prosecutor alleged that Clancy wrapped exercise bands around each child’s neck “one by one” until they were lifeless.
