Nixon, Wintour Named on Mamdani Potential Pied-à-Terre Tax List

A roster of prominent New Yorkers — ranging from Hollywood figures to major philanthropists and cultural power players — appeared on a newly surfaced list of property owners who could potentially be affected by the state’s proposed pied-à-terre tax.

The records, published on the New York City Department of Finance website, name hundreds of thousands of individuals, trusts and corporate entities tied to properties that may fall under the luxury second-home levy backed by Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

Among the recognizable names identified by The Post were figures from entertainment, politics, business and the arts, including actress and former New York gubernatorial candidate Cynthia Nixon, a vocal supporter of Mamdani.

Taylor Swift’s Tribeca property also appears to be included, with the residence listed under the ownership of “Euro Tribeca LLC.”

The document also lists Oscar-nominated filmmaker Darren Aronofsky, along with an Upper East Side property tied to the “Woody Allen 2005 Revocable Trust” and another associated with Helen Morris Scorsese, wife of acclaimed director Martin Scorsese.

Properties connected to author and wellness figure Deepak Chopra, celebrated journalist Gay Talese and the trust of the late “60 Minutes” correspondent Morley Safer are also included in the records.

Fashion industry titan Anna Wintour is named as well, along with her downtown Manhattan residence. Earlier this year, Wintour said she was “full of admiration” for Mamdani’s wife, New York City first lady Rama Duwaji, despite controversy over Duwaji having liked a social media post that described the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel as a “mass rape hoax” allegedly “fabricated” by The New York Times.

The list also includes a residence linked to Randy Mastro, who served as former Mayor Eric Adams’ first deputy mayor, as well as a home owned by Stephen Siegel, the former global brokerage chairman at CBRE.

Billionaire businessman and philanthropist Leonard Stern’s abode got a mention along with real estate developers Morris Moinian and Bruce Ratner.

Not one but two City Council members appeared on the document, which was only supposed to list non-primary residences, including District 6 Democrat Gale Brewer, who said of her Upper West Side Brownstone, “I’ve been living in [my place] 365 days a year since 1994. So this whole list must be messed up.”

Joining Brewer was Council Minority Leader David Carr (R-Staten Island) who called the mayor “a shoo-in for ‘Realtor of the Year’ in Texas,” referring to a predicted exodus of wealthy New Yorkers to more tax-favorable states.

City Hall and the DOF did not comment Monday.
