EastEnders star Adam Woodyatt 'will star on Celebrity Masterchef'

EastEnders favourite Adam Woodyatt is reportedly being lined up for Celebrity MasterChef, swapping Albert Square drama for the pressure of the kitchen after 34 years as Ian Beale.

The 50-year-old actor is best known for playing Walford’s long-serving businessman, a character whose ventures have included Kathy’s Cafe, Beale’s Plaice chippy and the Walford East restaurant.

According to The Mirror, Adam could be following the path taken by former EastEnders co-star John Partridge, who was crowned Celebrity MasterChef champion last year.

John appeared in the BBC soap for four-and-a-half years as Christian Clarke, the gay brother of Jane Beale, making him Adam’s former on-screen brother-in-law.

While John left EastEnders in November 2012, Adam has remained a fixture on Albert Square and is one of the soap’s longest-serving cast members.

Adam may already have an edge in the competition, as he has links to the food and drink world through his gins, which are sold in Marco Pierre White’s restaurants.

The soap star set up Neat Gin, which is a London Dry Gin containing eight botanicals, with his wife Beverley two years ago.

MailOnline has approached Adam Woodyatt and the BBC’s representatives for further comment.

The Mirror also claimed I’m A Celeb winner Vicky Pattison, former Gogglebox star Dom Parker, former boxing promoter Kellie Maloney and former footballer Neil Razor Ruddock and boxing champ Dillian Whyte make up the star-studded line-up.

In recent news, Adam joined his fellow EastEnders stars to run the London Marathon amid Barbara Windsor’s battle with Alzheimer’s. 

Barbara’s Revolutionaries, who were rallied by the soap TV star’s husband Scott Mitchell, raised more than £100,000 for the cause. 

Adam worked closely alongside Barbara when she starred as Peggy Mitchell on EastEnders until her last appearance in 2016.
