The 2026 trade deadline is set for Monday, Aug. 3, and the deals look like they could go right down to the last minute

Tarik Skubal is on his way to the Dodgers, delivering the first true blockbuster of the MLB trade deadline and toppling what had been viewed as the biggest domino on the market.
With division races and both wild-card pictures still crowded and unsettled, the 2026 MLB trade deadline has become a dream scenario for sellers. Now the questions shift quickly: Where will pitching-needy clubs such as the Brewers, Rays and Phillies look for rotation help? Will the Red Sox fully commit to buying after a 15-game winning streak changed their outlook? And how far are the Mets willing to go if they decide to break things apart?
The trade deadline arrives at 6 p.m. ET on Monday, Aug. 3, and all signs point to a frantic finish. Front offices are still trying to determine whether their teams are legitimate postseason threats or merely staying afloat in a season defined by parity.
