DELAND, Fla. – DeLand police are searching for a 17-year-old wanted in connection with the deaths of two people found last week.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Keyan Jayden Rundell, according to police. Investigators consider Rundell armed and dangerous and are warning anyone who sees him or has information about his whereabouts to call 911 immediately rather than approach him.
Authorities have not released details explaining why they believe Rundell is responsible for the deaths of 19-year-old Dustin Rose and 18-year-old Samson Campbell.
Police said Rose and Campbell were found dead last Thursday on a vacant industrial property near the Athens Theater. The two childhood friends had each been shot multiple times. One of their mothers tracked a phone and found them at the scene, according to police.

Investigators said they are aware of the social media discussions and heightened concern across the community. In response, police are boosting patrols and increasing their visible presence throughout DeLand in an effort to reassure residents.
“I think the focus is more on trying to like get to the bottom of it. I think that’s what has everyone on edge — are we going to find answers today,” said Brittany Schleper, a local salon owner.
Schleper’s salon sits about a football field away from where the bodies were discovered. She is one of many downtown DeLand business owners and residents hoping investigators can provide answers soon.
