Hasan Piker, the wealthy socialist Twitch streamer, erupted Tuesday night as Michigan’s Democratic Senate primary turned out to be far closer than many expected, directing his anger at Democrats who did not support his preferred progressive candidate, Abdul El-Sayed.
“Eveyone being like, ‘Abdul has a f–kton of work to do mending bridges,’ here’s the f–king take nuke for you: You are all unbelievably Islamophobic pieces of s–t,” Piker said at an El-Sayed election party during an election night Twitch livestream that ran for more than 11 hours.

Piker continued his profanity-laced tirade, accusing El-Sayed’s critics of smearing the candidate throughout the Michigan Democratic Senate primary campaign. “You literally called the dude a f–king terrorist for months on end, and like, called him a sexist, misogynist terrorist, bad candidate, fake doctor, when he has like two f–king degrees, and now you’re gonna sit there and be like ‘well, you know, you really gotta come to me now’ like what are you talking about? Do you want to f–king win or not? Lock the f–k in,” he said.
El-Sayed had been expected to comfortably defeat Rep. Haley Stevens, but by Wednesday morning the race remained too close to call. With 95% of ballots counted, El-Sayed held a lead of less than 4 percentage points in the Michigan Democratic Senate primary results.
