A Wisconsin father discovered dead alongside his two daughters had reportedly raised concerns among others over his collection of weapons.
Jeffrey Manke, 57, was identified by police as one of three people found dead inside a home in Winneconne, Wisconsin, on July 31, after officers were sent there for a welfare check. His daughters, 16-year-old Jaelyn Manke and 11-year-old Lenora Manke, were also found deceased. Officials have not disclosed the causes of death, but the girls’ mother, Lindsay Lewandowski, has said publicly on social media that her daughters “were not safe” when they were with their father.
Online court records show that Manke and Lewandowski were both scheduled to appear in court on July 31 to finalize their divorce.
Lewandowski, who goes by “Lindsay Dash” on Facebook, wrote on Monday that her daughters “were not safe” and “felt unsafe” around their father. The former couple shared joint custody of the girls, while Lewandowski had been seeking full custody, according to online court filings. She wrote that despite the girls’ fears, “[t]he family counselor dismissed them and refused to continue working with them. The [government-appointed lawyer] knew they didn’t want to be there. [CPS] reports were made. Cops were called.”
“The system failed my babies,” Lewandowski claimed.
Friends of Lewandowski have launched a GiveSendGo fundraiser to help cover funeral costs and living expenses.
The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into the deaths of Jeffrey Manke, Jaelyn Manke and Lenora Manke.
