Police in Weston, Massachusetts, an affluent suburb west of Boston, are searching for a masked prowler who was seen on surveillance video outside a private home.
The Weston Police Department said cameras on the property recorded the individual, who was wearing a bicycle helmet and a face covering, moving around the grounds between about 2:30 and 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 2. Investigators are now asking the public for help as they look into what they described as a “suspicious incident.”
According to police, there is no evidence that the person entered the residence. However, authorities noted that the individual was fully masked and on private property in the middle of the night.
“Based on the circumstances, we believe the person’s intentions were likely not lawful,” police said.

Weston, known for its high-end real estate and convenient access to Boston, is among the most exclusive and expensive communities in Massachusetts. Police said the person appeared to emerge from a nearby trail before approaching the Highland Street home with a flashlight.
One image released by the department appears to show the individual pointing a flashlight toward the home’s three-car garage.
Investigators also said another image appears to show the suspicious man carrying a hunting chair from the property toward the woods. A separate image showed him wearing the bicycle helmet.

Weston Police Chief Denis Linehan called the scene deeply concerning, telling CBS Boston, “It’s creepy, there is no doubt about it.”
“Anytime you have someone on somebody else’s property masked, I don’t care what time of day it is, that is concerning and then you add the factor that it is three in the morning and he was on that property for an extended period of time, we’re overly concerned.”

The suspicious behavior is causing authorities to ask nearby residents to check their home surveillance or doorbell camera footage from those early morning hours.
“Even footage showing someone walking, riding a bicycle, or leaving the area could be helpful to our investigation,” they said.
