Newly released video shows the horrifying seconds a gunman opened fire at an In-N-Out restaurant in Idaho, forcing employees to drop to the floor as a deadly attack unfolded that left three people dead.
Authorities said 24-year-old Chad Williams used an AK-style rifle to shoot customers and workers at the Twin Falls In-N-Out on Saturday evening before taking his own life. The violence killed three people and injured 10 others.
On Friday, police released nearly 10 minutes of footage from the rampage, cautioning the public that the images are graphic and could be deeply upsetting or traumatic to watch.
The body-camera and surveillance videos reveal panic inside the fast-food restaurant, where workers wearing the chain’s signature red aprons can be seen diving to the ground and huddling together as gunfire erupted around them.
One of the first clips shows Williams, identified by police as the shooter, driving a white Honda Civic up to the drive-thru payment window before shooting 23-year-old Ashley Garibay, who later died from her injuries.
The footage then shows him moving farther through the drive-thru lane, while a second camera angle captures him walking toward the vehicle in front of him with a firearm in his hand.
Investigators believe Williams then shot 59-year-old Christopher Claunch, the second victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Moments later, Austin James — a former Twin Falls police officer and Idaho State Police trooper — ran toward the sound of the shots, only to encounter the gunman and become the third person struck.

Williams killed his first victim, Ashley Garibay, 23, while she took orders at the drive-thru window
After bullets first rang out, employees at the fast food restaurant were seen on surveillance footage scrambling for shelter and hiding on the floor
He survived the encounter and managed to flee the area, with surveillance footage showing him sprinting across the parking lot as he attempted to retrieve his firearm.
However, due to the severity of his injuries and significant blood loss, police said James was pulled back into his vehicle, seen in the footage among the long line of cars waiting in the drive-thru, before being rushed to the hospital.
The haunting footage then showed Williams strolling back toward the drive-thru window, where he saw employees inside tending to 23-year-old Garibay, according to police narration of the video.
He fired directly into the window a second time before his handgun jammed, forcing him to return to his car to retrieve a rifle.
The video then cuts to the scene unfolding inside the restaurant, showing at least eight employees dropping to the floor beneath the fryers for cover, still dressed in their uniforms.
An off-duty ISP trooper is then seen with a gun in hand as he climbs over the counter, waving toward the horrified employees and signaling for them to flee.
While police said the trooper began searching the restaurant for a potential threat, another angle captured Williams running back up the drive-thru carrying a massive weapon.

After unleashing bullets at the In-N-Out and on the street, Williams retreated to the parking lot, where he shot individuals at the Tesla charging station
He opened fire on several other patrons from outside before the ISP officer began returning fire.
Williams then shot a fourth victim – a good Samaritan who police said was attempting to help the wounded victims inside the restaurant.
He then fled to a nearby street and was seen unleashing bullets on cars stopped at a red light, striking three more victims.
The gunman then continued the deadly pursuit in the parking lot, striking the eighth victim who was sitting in their Tesla at a charging station.
Bullets were then fired at a second Tesla, killing Dale Schultz and striking his passenger.
Williams continued to a second location, a nearby visitor’s center where three people sheltered.
The gunman also invaded a neighboring visitor’s center, where three individuals were seen crouching in the top-right corner
An employee confronted the gunman outside the visitor’s center, but fled when shots rang out, distracting Williams from shooting others
Outside the building, an employee at the store bravely engaged with the gunman, giving others time to escape.
The employee was able to flee the scene as officers descended on Williams, who then turned the gun on himself and died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Jordan Salinas, 35, also intervened in the chaos by running toward the danger and firing a semi-automatic pistol at Williams.
For Salinas, this was something he was prepared for after the 2021 shooting at the Boise Towne Square Mall that left two dead and four others injured, he recalled to the Idaho Statesman.
Salinas, a healthcare worker and full-time caregiver for his disabled brother, told the outlet that the 2021 incident made him realize that gunmen often go after ‘soft targets’ – people like his wheelchair-bound brother and the aide by his side.
He added that he practices shooting on the weekends and does his own training in the desert. Until Sunday, he had never pointed his gun and never thought he would have to.

The popular burger chain had only opened the new location in Twin Falls this week, with many saying they had been anticipating the opening for months.
The motive behind the senseless shooting remains unclear but Williams’ family is cooperating with police.
Local police departments, including the Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office, Nampa Police Department, Caldwell Police Department, Meridian Police Department and ISP, continue to investigate.
The FBI has also asked the public to submit tips, videos and images related to the shooting to help investigators.
