My Life With the Walter Boys Season 4 Release Date Update

Netflix’s My Life with the Walter Boys season 3 has landed with an early 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, marking a strong critical start for the YA drama — though the number comes with the usual caveat that only a limited batch of reviews has been counted so far. With fans already racing through the new episodes, the big question is whether Jackie Howard and the Walter family will be back for season 4. Fortunately, viewers do not have to wait for Netflix to make that call.

My Life with the Walter Boys season 4 was officially renewed well before season 3 premiered, an unusually confident move from Netflix, which often waits weeks or even months after release before deciding whether a show continues. In this case, the streamer gave the green light early enough for production to move ahead right away, with filming reportedly beginning in 2026 and returning to Canada.

That quick turnaround has made My Life with the Walter Boys stand out in the streaming landscape, where long gaps between seasons have become the norm. If the current production timeline holds, season 4 could arrive faster than any previous installment of the Netflix series.

For comparison, season 3 began filming on August 6, nearly a month before season 2 was released. The third season then premiered in early August 2026, landing almost exactly one year after cameras started rolling.

If season 4 started filming in May 2026, a similar one-year schedule would point to a possible May 2027 release window. That would put only about 10 months between season 3 and season 4, even shorter than the already impressive 11-month break between the previous two seasons. It would also be a major improvement over the nearly two-year wait between seasons 1 and 2, a delay the show now appears to have left behind. Even in a slower scenario, another one-year gap seems like the most likely worst case.

Netflix’s enthusiasm for My Life with the Walter Boys is easy to understand. The series has expanded a single book into a multi-season streaming hit, with season 3 debuting at No. 1 on the Netflix Top 10 chart and continuing to hold strong. It is also a cost-effective performer, relying on character drama rather than expensive visual effects and built around a cast that was largely lesser-known when the show began. Just as important, the 10-episode seasons appear built for binge-watching, which likely helps with Netflix’s key completion metrics. Add in the fact that new seasons can be produced relatively quickly, and My Life with the Walter Boys looks like exactly the kind of reliable fan-favorite Netflix wants to keep moving.

To date, there has been no endpoint set for the series, no exact number of seasons, albeit showrunner Melanie Halsall says that she has an “overall sense of where we’ll end up.” So far, that does not seem like it will be by the end of season 4, or that would likely have been announced already.
