Central Florida Sheriff Searches for Trio Accused of Looting Cemeteries

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Florida authorities are turning to the public for help locating three people accused of moving from state to state and stealing valuables from the final resting places of the dead.

Detectives said the suspects targeted cemeteries, forcing their way into niches that contain cremated remains and removing personal items left behind by families. For grieving relatives, investigators noted, those keepsakes can carry emotional value far beyond anything they might be worth to a thief.

The suspects have been identified as Drake Lee Milam, 33; his girlfriend, Porsche Bancroft, 32; and Bancroft’s mother, Angela Garrett, 52. According to investigators, each is wanted on warrants and can be extradited back to Florida to face charges.

The alleged cemetery thefts have shaken families who trusted that their loved ones’ resting places would remain undisturbed. Investigators said the stolen property may include jewelry and deeply personal mementos placed inside niches, including wedding rings, taken for fast cash.

Across the state, officials said at least 20 reported cases in Florida have been linked to the investigation, though detectives suspect there may be more victims. The case is being handled by the Attorney General’s Office of Statewide Prosecution.

Investigators believe the three suspects live in Indianapolis, but they may be connected to similar crimes in at least nine states.

Officials are encouraging families to check their loved one’s resting place and confirm that any personal items remain secure.

Central Florida Crimeline is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with tips can call 800-423-TIPS (8477).
