Rosie O’Donnell closed out her four-night stint guest-hosting Jimmy Kimmel with a sharp, Donald Trump-focused monologue that ultimately gave way to a musical finale.
During the performance, O’Donnell, 64, repeatedly called on the President to “resign.”
The jabs started the moment she stepped onstage, with the former View co-host introducing herself by embracing the word “nasty.”
Her comment appeared to be a pointed nod to a statement White House spokesperson Davis Ingle first sent to Our News Outlet on Wednesday, in which O’Donnell was described as “a nasty woman and a total slob whose brain has been completely destroyed by Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
When Our News Outlet sought comment again on Friday, the White House referred back to that same statement. By Friday, multiple outlets had begun covering the remarks after O’Donnell’s flag-waving musical sendoff drew attention.
“I’ve really enjoyed my time here,” O’Donnell told the audience before launching into the song, adding her thanks to “everyone who’s been watching this week.”
She then singled out “the hungry, hungry hypocrite in the White House,” continuing to avoid saying the President’s name aloud.
“Kind of weird to think he spent more nights with me this week than Melania,” O’Donnell joked, before also expressing gratitude to Jimmy Kimmel for handing her the late-night platform.

The set ended with a bombastic musical display that urged the President to resign. O’Donnell moved overseas to avoid Trump’s second term in office
‘And for reminding everyone that we have the right to free speech in this country, whether Orange Voldemort likes it or not,’ she continued.
Kimmel and Trump have been at odds for about a year, since the politician called for the late night host’s show to be canceled over a crack made about conservatives wanting to distance themselves from the suspected assassin of Charlie Kirk in the wake of the latter’s death.
Kimmel, currently on vacation, eagerly touted O’Donnell as one of his guests in June due to their shared Trump hatred.
O’Donnell urged the audience to ‘boo’ Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr at another point in her monologue, which, unlike her others, was Trump-themed throughout.
She introduced Kennedy as ‘SpongeBob small-pox’ as a shirtless photo of the official flashed behind her, leading her to call him ‘strange’ and ask sidekick Guillermo Rodriguez whether it was ‘OK’ to hate such a man.
An anecdote already offered to People on August 11 about getting the word ‘they’ tattooed on her wrist followed. The ink was a reminder for O’Donnell to always refer to her non-binary autistic child by the pronoun, after instances where she forgot.
The patriotic-themed musical performance came next. The song O’Donnell belted out was a parody of the traditional folk ballad ‘Danny Boy’ – a nod to her new home-country. An American flag, however, appeared in the background.
As it did, O’Donnell sang: ‘O Donny boy, it’s Rosie, Rosie calling.

An American flag waved behind her as she sang. She told the Tangle podcast last month that her team is currently charting potential paths for a full-time TV return, after four days of Trump-bashing
‘From Hollywood, The Jimmy Kimmel Show; drop that Big Mac that we all know you’re holding.
‘Because, my dear, I worry for you so; poor Donnie boy, your polls, your polls are falling.
‘Your reflecting pool is green as Mountain Dew; your wig’s a mess, your ballroom is appalling.
‘And with Iran, you’ve bit off more than you can chew; measles are back, inflation is a-swelling.
‘You post all night, you’re sleeping while you work; and what’s with all this useless crap you’re selling?’
As O’Donnell sang, mock fireworks flashed.
‘Hey, sweetie pie, you’re driving us all berserk; but there’s a way to end this drama,’ the host continued.
‘It’s time to use that stable-genius brain; since we all know you’ll never be Obama, why not resign, and make this country great again?
‘Come on, resign and make this country great again!’
Shortly before, O’Donnell laughed off rumors she is attempting a permanent TV comeback with her recent TV antics – ‘The truth is, the real reason I returned to ABC was to become the next Golden Bachelorette, Gay Edition,’ she joked.
‘And they should do it, right? I mean, don’t you all want to see who gets the final Rosie? God knows I do.’
Appearances from Megan Mullally, Nick Offerman, Sydney James Harcourt and Shawn Hatosy came next.
O’Donnell moved overseas to avoid Trump’s second term in office.
She told the Tangle podcast last month that her team is currently charting potential paths for a full-time television return.
‘It would look a lot like my old show, to tell you the truth. I think America wants nostalgia. I think what they don’t want is celebrity culture. I think celebrity culture is dead in America,’ she said.
The Rosie O’Donnell Show had a six-year run in the late 90s and early 2000s. She then had two separate stints on The View – one that lasted less than a year in 2006, and one that only spanned six months in 2014.
She left the show in February of the following year, for health and personal reasons.
