A Florida mother and her 2-year-old twin daughter died Sunday after a lightning strike hit them in front of the child’s father, leaving him shattered by the sudden tragedy.
Kenya Glasgow, 31, and her daughter, Kennedi, were discovered on a sidewalk in Margate after a bolt of lightning struck at about 2:30 p.m., the Margate Police Department said.
“I saw the whole thing,” Kam Glasgow told The Post through tears on Monday, one day after losing his wife and one of his children.
“A bolt of lightning came down, I got hit with the residuals from the ground and I looked over and that’s when I saw them,” the grieving father said.
“S–t can’t be real,” he wrote on Facebook, describing the fatal lightning strike as a “1 In 1.2 million” freak accident.
Emergency crews rushed to the Margate scene and immediately began lifesaving efforts, including CPR, police said. Kenya and Kennedi were taken to separate hospitals, where both were pronounced dead shortly afterward.
Kam said Kenya had been the “love of my life” since they were teenagers, when they were 16 and 17. The couple had been together for 15 years and married four years ago.
The couple shared twin daughters, Kennedi, who was killed, and Kensli.
Now, Kam said that he and Kensli “have to pick up the pieces and lean on our village.”
Since yesterday afternoon, he and his daughter have been feeding off “support from our large family and a vast amount of friends who are still, technically family.”
Kam described his late wife as the “most amazing spirit in this world.”
“My wife had the biggest heart in the world. And only cared about everybody else and never cared about herself. She put everybody before herself. Everybody showed up for everyone. Without hesitation,” he said.
Margate Police said the incident remains under investigation.
