At 20, first son Barron Trump is said to be living largely behind a tightened wall of security, a shift those around the Trump family view as a reaction to the escalating threats and political violence surrounding his father, President Donald Trump.
“He doesn’t go out,” a longtime figure in Trump’s orbit told The Post, describing Barron’s low-profile routine after completing his sophomore year at New York University and spending much of the summer alongside his mother at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey.
A second source put it more bluntly, saying the youngest Trump son has become “pretty reclusive.”
The heightened caution comes after Donald Trump survived at least three assassination attempts over a three-year span, including the Butler, Pennsylvania, shooting that left him wounded, an alleged would-be attacker who tracked him at his West Palm Beach golf course that September, and a gunman who targeted the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in April.
Barron himself has also reportedly become a target of extremist attention, with Iranian regime hardliners recently circulating a video titled “Where to kill Barron Trump” that claimed to monitor his movements and offered a $10 million bounty.
The 2025 assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was said to be a friend, also deeply unsettled Barron, according to reports.
“This is what happens when you go out there. This is what happened,” Barron reportedly told his father as he delivered the news of Kirk’s death.
That private moment, revealed by Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan in their book “Regime Change,” ended with Trump trying to soothe his son, telling him, “Calm down honey, calm down.”

The first lady’s office responded to reports of her son’s reclusiveness by saying that ‘in light of recent threats,’ the East Wing asks that ‘any details concerning his private life be excluded from all coverage.’
Barron’s last public appearance occurred in July, where he attend the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final match between Spain and Argentina in New Jersey.
He studies finance at NYU’s Stern School of Business, a few miles uptown from the family’s Trump Tower residence.
During the 2024 campaign, Barron was credited with steering his father toward the podcast circuit and the manosphere hosts who reached young male voters, including Joe Rogan and Theo Von.
His business ventures have drawn attention alongside his family’s crypto interests, though the extent of his actual involvement has been reported inconsistently.
In January 2025, at 19, Barron was on a video call with a London woman he’d met on social media when he watched her ex-boyfriend attack her.
He called British police from the US, telling authorities she was ‘getting really badly beat up.’
