Ohio woman learns fate in fatal dragging of driver who climbed onto her hood in road rage death

An Ohio woman who fatally dragged a DoorDash driver after a minor crash in a grocery store parking lot was sentenced last week to as many as 5½ years behind bars.

Danielle Henry received the prison term after pleading guilty last month to aggravated vehicular homicide in the death of 38-year-old Ibrahim Diakite, according to WBNS-TV.

Authorities said Henry had just shoplifted and was behind the wheel of a stolen car when she struck Diakite’s vehicle in October 2025 in a Kroger parking lot in Westerville.

The encounter quickly turned deadly when Henry attempted to flee the scene in her vehicle, investigators said.

Diakite followed her and pulled in front of Henry at a stoplight. He then got out of his vehicle and stood in front of hers in an attempt to keep her from driving away before climbing onto the hood.

Henry drove off anyway, accelerating to 45 mph before jerking the car. Diakite was thrown beneath the vehicle and dragged roughly 300 to 600 feet before being run over, authorities said.

Diakite was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

At the time of the road rage incident, Henry had several active warrants, for charges of theft, receiving stolen property and failure to comply with police.

“She was obviously willing to do whatever she could to keep from being caught by the police and showed herself to be a danger to the community,” Westerville Police Chief Holly Murchland told the news outlet.

Henry will be required to serve at least four years, and her driver’s license was permanently suspended.
