Now this was one underground bout that went right down to the whiskers.
Commuters at London’s Oxford Circus station got an unexpected show when two mice were seen facing off on their hind legs, trading tiny blows in a scene that was equal parts hilarious and unsettling.
In a viral video, the pint-sized pair can be seen darting across the Tube platform before popping upright and squaring up like miniature prizefighters.
The spirited rodents appear to grapple and swat at each other near the platform’s yellow safety line, then quickly scurry out of sight, according to footage shared on Instagram on Saturday.
“It warmed our hearts to see them playing/fighting with each other. Myself and my friend Aaron couldn’t stop laughing,” Sonia Mansfield, who filmed the encounter, told Storyful.
The tiny tussle quickly found an audience online, drawing comparisons to New York City’s legendary Pizza Rat and collecting more than 123,000 likes by Wednesday.
Viewers wasted no time joining in on the jokes. “Please someone remind them to mind the gap,” one commenter wrote, while others admitted the rodent rumble made them a bit uneasy.
Another user summed up the showdown with a pun: “No More Mr Mice Guy.”
