Ariana Grande makes shock career announcement... amid health concerns

Ariana Grande is said to be staying firmly behind her next movie, Focker-in-Law, with plans to promote the comedy this fall even as she prepares to step away from the public eye.

The 33-year-old singer and actress, fresh off wrapping her Eternal Sunshine tour, appears in the upcoming film alongside Robert De Niro, Ben Stiller and Blythe Danner. The comedy is scheduled to open in theaters on Thanksgiving Day.

Grande’s promotional plans come after she exited her West End role in Sunday In The Park with George in early August and announced an intended hiatus following intense public attention surrounding her apparent weight loss.

At the time, a spokesperson for Grande told People: ‘Ariana will be taking a step back from visibility after she completes the Eternal Sunshine Tour. She looks forward to finishing the tour and ending it on a high note, both healthily and happily, and then taking a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances, which has led to endless, ongoing public scrutiny.’

However, a source has now told the outlet that Grande still intends ‘to support her brand work throughout the break,’ including commitments tied to the new film.

Our News Outlet has contacted Grande’s representatives for comment, but no response had been received at the time of publication.

Grande released a music video for her song Petal in July, raising alarm bells as she appeared onscreen with her sternum in plain sight.

It even prompted a response from British actress and activist Jameela Jamil, who suggested an eating disorder could be at play.

Shortly after announcing the break through her rep, the pop star personally insisted her hiatus from the spotlight was planned ‘a long time ago,’ telling fans at a subsequent show that ‘boundaries need to be set.’

She clarified to fans that the upcoming pause in public appearances had been ‘quietly’ orchestrated ‘a long time ago’ before insisting that the decision was not made because ‘negativity was ruining things for me.’

Her Eternal Sunshine Tour wrapped on Tuesday at London’s The O2 after a 41-show run that stretched across 10 cities.

‘This has been one of the most beautiful, extraordinary experiences of my life and I just wanted to express my gratitude without sobbing completely,’ the tearful star said to fans at the final show, per People.

She continued: ‘Thank you from the bottom of my heart. It has been so special. I’ll cherish this experience always. I have the best fans in the entire world.’

Grande also took to Instagram to share outtakes from the concert and wrote to her 362 million followers, ‘Thank you and I love you always.’

The seven Rings hitmaker hinted that she is ready to settle down with boyfriend Ricky Alvarez during her final show this week.

She rekindled her relationship with the former backup dancer, 35, whom she previously dated from 2015 to 2016, in June.

Throughout her tour, she regularly changed the lyrics to her song Thank U, Next, in which she references her roster of famous ex-boyfriends.

Though the official lyrics are, ‘Wrote some songs about Ricky, now I listen and laugh,’ Grande revised the line at her recent shows.

And on Tuesday, she sparked marriage speculation when she changed the words of the hit song to, ‘Wrote some songs about Ricky, I’m tryna make him my last.’
