A Florida traveler is accused of setting off alarm bells at Miami International Airport after allegedly telling airline staff he had a “bomb” as he tried to board an overseas flight — a remark police say he later dismissed as a joke.

Yoel Guevara-Crespo, 33, was arrested Monday on a charge of making a false report about a bomb, according to an arrest affidavit reviewed by Law&Crime. Authorities said Guevara-Crespo was preparing to board an American Airlines flight bound for Camagüey, Cuba, when a ticket agent asked the routine pre-boarding security questions, including whether he had any lithium batteries or incendiary devices.

His alleged answer, police said, was: “No, but I have a bomb.”

After his arrest, Guevara-Crespo was booked at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. He later posted a $2,500 bond and was released Wednesday. Online court records did not yet list his next court date, but they show he was ordered to stay away from Miami International Airport.
