A Duluth, Minnesota, man is facing criminal charges after police say a dispute over trash escalated into a stabbing.
Travis Shockley, 38, was taken into custody by officers with the Duluth Police Department on Aug. 19, nearly a week after a 39-year-old man arrived at Aspirus St. Luke’s Hospital with a stab wound to his chest. According to a criminal complaint reviewed by Law&Crime, police were called to the hospital emergency room at about 10:20 p.m. on Aug. 13 after staff alerted authorities that a patient had been stabbed.
Investigators said the injured man named Shockley as the person who attacked him. The Minnesota news outlet Bring Me the News reported that the two men were acquainted before the alleged confrontation.
Shockley has been charged with assault, possession of methamphetamine, and fleeing an officer. He remains jailed on a $100,000 bond, with his next court appearance set for Nov. 6.
