A Florida mother received the news she had been praying for when she learned her missing son was safe—right in the middle of a press conference asking the public to help find him.
Olga Adcock was appealing for information Monday as authorities searched for her 16-year-old son, Benjamin, who has autism. During the plea, an interruption brought the long-awaited update: “He’s been found.”
“Oh my goodness gracious!” St. Johns County Sheriff Rob Hardwick exclaimed before turning to embrace Adcock. The relieved mother responded, “Praise the Lord!”
“Wow, there is light at the end of the tunnel,” Adcock said during the emotional embrace. She then thanked the sheriff for his help.
Benjamin had been missing for nearly 48 hours after wandering away from his home in St. Augustine shortly after noon Saturday.
The extensive search included K9 teams, drones, helicopters and volunteers who joined the effort to locate the teenager.
A good Samaritan ultimately spotted him after recognizing Benjamin from a photo shared on social media and alerted authorities.
