Trump expected to hold Iran talks with Gulf leaders during UN General Assembly: report

President Trump is reportedly expected to meet with Gulf leaders next week on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York to discuss the war with Iran.

The high-level gathering, scheduled for next Tuesday, is expected to focus on the conflict’s next phase, including the Trump administration’s strategy for the postwar period, sources told Axios on Wednesday.

Leaders or foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman are expected to join Trump for the meeting.

According to one source, the talks could be expanded to include additional Arab and Muslim leaders.

The Gulf states, along with US military bases located in the region, have been hit by Iranian missile and drone attacks throughout the war.

The conflict has also caused economic turmoil across Arab nations by disrupting oil and natural gas exports.

Axios reported that the Trump administration’s “day-after plan” for Iran is not expected to be finalized until after the November midterm elections.

Trump has recently said the war is expected to end shortly after the fall elections.

Vice President JD Vance likewise told The Post earlier this week that the nearly seven-month-old conflict would enter a “much different phase in a couple of months.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is also seeking a meeting with Trump during the UN General Assembly, though no date has been set, Axios reported.

The White House did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.
