Cuba's Power Grid Completely Collapses

Cuba’s Power Grid Collapses Nationwide, Leaving Millions in Dark

We have previously reported on the growing challenges facing Cuba’s communist regime as it struggles to maintain control and keep basic services running.

Those problems appeared to reach a new level Friday, according to the U.S. Embassy in Havana.

According to the embassy, as of 1:57 PM EST, Cuba was experiencing “a total power failure due to a collapse of Cuba’s electrical grid.”

The cause of the collapse remained “under investigation,” the regime said. The failure comes as Cuba faces deepening economic and energy problems, including the loss of fuel supplies from Venezuela. Critics of the communist system argue that years of mismanagement have left the country’s infrastructure increasingly vulnerable.

The embassy said there was no timetable for restoring electricity and urged people to plan accordingly.

Reports also indicated that cellphone and internet services had been disrupted.

The U.S. Embassy further warned:

Cuba’s electrical grid has become increasingly unstable, with multiple nationwide blackouts reported in recent months. The system remains vulnerable, while regular outages are occurring more often and lasting longer. Scheduled power cuts take place daily, and unscheduled blackouts continue across the country.

The embassy advised Americans in Cuba to take the following steps:

Check daily updates from UNE (Unión Eléctrica), follow the organization’s social media accounts and monitor local news reports.

Remain in contact with family and friends.

Keep mobile phones and portable power banks fully charged.

Store flashlights and spare batteries in an easily accessible place.

Maintain supplies of bottled water and nonperishable food.

Make backup plans for medical needs, including electrically powered devices and medications that require refrigeration.

President Donald Trump has also secured an important deal involving Greenland aimed at strengthening U.S. security and preventing China or Russia from expanding their influence there.

The nationwide blackout could be another sign that Cuba’s communist government is nearing a critical point.

Editor’s Note: Thanks to President Trump and his administration’s bold leadership, we are once again respected on the world stage, and our enemies are being put on notice.
