Frances Bean Cobain, the daughter of Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love, made a long-awaited return to the Los Angeles red carpet this week after an eight-year absence.
The 34-year-old attended Tuesday night’s premiere of The Deputy, a new crime comedy starring William H. Macy and Julia Fox, Kanye West’s former partner.
Frances was joined at the event by her husband, Riley Hawk, the son of skateboarding legend Tony Hawk and, like his wife, the child of a famous parent.
She had largely stepped away from red carpet appearances after 2018. That year, she was photographed with her mother at the opening of the Los Angeles boutique Other Peoples Children.
Later that year, Frances was seen socializing with Michael Jackson’s daughter, Paris Jackson, during the Moschino x H&M show at New York Fashion Week.
Now, after years away from high-profile showbiz events, Frances has returned to the red carpet. Her appearance also highlighted her strong resemblance to her father, whose 1994 suicide has recently become the subject of renewed mystery.

For the occasion, Frances wore a fashionably faded graphic T-shirt, a look that recalled the alternative-rock style associated with her parents during the 1990s.
After appearing at the Moschino show at Universal Studios Hollywood in June 2019, she disappeared from public showbiz events for several years, deepening the intrigue surrounding her low-key life.
Frances began dating Riley in 2021 and married him in a private ceremony in the San Diego area two years later.
The secret wedding was officiated by her godfather, R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe, who had been a close friend of Kurt Cobain.
Following Kurt’s suicide, Stipe wrote the R.E.M. song Let Me In, which reflected his efforts to help his friend through his personal struggles.
Kurt was found dead from a shotgun wound in Seattle in April 1994, after a prolonged struggle with depression and heroin addiction.
Frances was nearly two years old when her father died. In September 2024, she and Riley welcomed a son, Ronin Walker Cobain Hawk.
