FORD HEIGHTS, Ill. () — Cook County sheriff’s investigators searched Ford Heights Municipal Hall on Thursday, carrying boxes of evidence from the building as part of an undisclosed probe by the Illinois Attorney General’s Office.
Investigators arrived shortly after 9 a.m. to serve a search warrant and stayed at the municipal building throughout the day. Officials provided few details, saying only that the warrant was tied to an ongoing investigation.
Patricia, a longtime Ford Heights resident, said the village needs greater oversight and accountability.
“This should have been happening. We deserve more out here in this village of Ford Heights, Illinois,” she said.

The financially struggling village has operated without its own police department since 2008. Two years ago, then-Mayor Charles Griffin resigned after he was convicted of misappropriating public funds.
Griffin’s successor, Mayor Freddie Wilson, told ABC7 Chicago that he was unaware of the reason for the search.
“I don’t know more than you know. So I guess when I find something, I guess you guys will know. I have no idea,” Wilson said as he left Municipal Hall while investigators continued working inside.
The Illinois Attorney General’s Office declined to release additional information, citing the ongoing investigation.
