She noticed something unusual—and took action.
A suspected terror plot targeting a British airbase used by US bombers may have been disrupted after a vigilant woman in a nearby village reported allegedly suspicious activity to police, according to a report.
The three vans were seen traveling toward RAF Fairford in southwest England early Sunday by a resident of Whelford, Gloucestershire. The nearby village has a population of 178, according to a local who spoke to the UK Sun.
The unidentified woman, who lives near the perimeter of the airbase, raised the alarm. Armed police soon arrived in the quiet village, located about 90 miles from London.

The woman reportedly saw several men “hanging around” two vans and contacted police. Officers arrived to find the vehicles allegedly “packed with explosives,” a neighbor told The Sun.
“Thank goodness this woman in the village saw what she saw and had the wit to call the cops out quickly. She may well have saved a lot of lives,” the local said.
“She saw these guys hanging around the two vans and said they were acting suspiciously and did not appear to be locals,” they added.
Police evacuated 85 homes within 400 yards of the base on Sunday while they investigated the alarming incident.
British authorities are reportedly treating the alleged terror plot as a suspected Iranian-backed operation aimed at killing American service members stationed at the base. RAF Fairford is used as a launch site for US airstrikes on Iran.
