Woman recalls chilling encounter with vile pornographer RC Horsch, son inside Philly house of horrors linked to 7 missing women

A woman has described a terrifying encounter with a notorious pornographer and his convicted felon son more than a decade ago inside their Philadelphia home—an address now tied by investigators to several missing women.

She said she met Raymond “R.C.” Horsch and his son, Eugene, in 2012, when she was homeless and struggling with drug use. She immediately recognized the men when reports emerged about the Olney property, which detectives have since linked to seven missing or unidentified women, WPVI reported.

“When I saw this story break, I was like, ‘Oh my God, I know who that is,’” said the woman, who has not been publicly identified.

She said she met the father and son in Camden, New Jersey, before accompanying them to their Philadelphia home. After using drugs, she blacked out. When she regained consciousness, she said, R.C. Horsch—who wrote the disturbing book “Memoir of an Empathetic Serial Killer”—was standing over her and taking photographs.

“I was terrified. I thought he and his son Eugene were going to kill me,” she said.

The woman said she managed to escape the residence on Chew Avenue, but the threats did not end there. Weeks later, she encountered Eugene again in Camden and said he issued another warning.

“Eugene was like, ‘You know I can kill you, right, and nobody would ever find you,’” she recalled.

Now sober for 10 years, the woman said others in the area had long cautioned one another about a man known for having one eye.

“We would say, ‘The one-eyed guy—don’t go with him.’ Girls would go missing, and we’d ask, ‘Do you think it’s him or the other guy?’” she said.

Authorities first encountered R.C. Horsch in 2009, after he allegedly attempted to abduct a 9-year-old girl and was arrested. Investigators searching his vehicle reportedly found an eye patch, binoculars, camera equipment and a condom.

The woman has since spoken with Philadelphia detectives and learned that images of her were allegedly among more than a million files recovered from the home, including videos investigators described as depicting killings.

“They wanted to know what Eugene said when he threatened me and whether I believed other girls had been there,” she said. She also spoke with the mother of Gabrielle Amarando, one of the women named in the investigation.

She told investigators the names of other women she fears may have disappeared and could be connected to the case. The probe began in June after authorities discovered a disturbing scene inside the property, including hazardous chemicals, weapons and writings referencing serial killers.

“A lot of us are afraid to come forward,” she said. “But I’m doing this so the other girls have a chance at getting some kind of justice.”

Police have said they found images and video of two women—Maribel Frieses, last seen in 2018, and Amarando, last seen in 2012—that appeared to show the women dead.

Authorities have also identified Blair Tonzelli, who disappeared in 2023, and Amy McHale, Horsch’s former wife, who was last seen in 2016.

McHale’s family said her last known location was the house where Horsch and his son lived.

“Something happened to her in that house,” McHale’s mother, Gloria, said.

R.C. Horsch died last year. Investigators believe his remains may be among five urns recovered from the deteriorating brick property.

Eugene Horsch remains jailed on firearms charges as authorities continue investigating the missing and unidentified women.
