Naomi Watts’ 17-Year-Old Model Daughter Kai Schreiber Towers Over Her

Naomi Watts’ 17-year-old daughter Kai Schreiber stood noticeably taller than her famous mother when the pair attended a high-profile fashion event last week.

The mother and daughter posed together at the Gucci Store Show, held as part of Milan Fashion Week Womenswear Spring/Summer 2027 at Allianz MiCo.

Watts, who is 5 feet 5 inches tall, made a bold statement in a vivid fuchsia suit worn without a top underneath. She completed the look with sleek black pointed heels.

Schreiber, who measures 5 feet 11 inches, embraced the spotlight in a sleeveless white mini dress, towering silver heels and dramatic eye makeup. She carried a bone-colored Gucci handbag as she posed like a seasoned runway star.

The Oscar-winning actress has regularly shown up to support her daughter as Schreiber builds her modeling career.

Their Milan appearance came just weeks after Schreiber received a standing ovation while accepting the Breakthrough Model of the Year honor at The Daily Front Row’s Fashion Media Awards.

Schreiber, whom Watts shares with former partner Liev Schreiber, drew the loudest cheers of the evening when she revealed during her acceptance speech that she was the first transgender girl to receive the award.

In a video filmed by Our News Outlet at the Rainbow Room in New York City’s Rockefeller Center, the emerging model said it felt surreal to receive such recognition so early in her fashion career.

Supported at the ceremony by her 57-year-old mother, Schreiber spoke warmly about being welcomed into the fashion industry. She said she was “so beyond excited” to keep learning about the business and to be able to call modeling her job.

“I’m also the first transgender girl to win this award,” Schreiber said, prompting an enthusiastic response from the audience.

She described the moment as “surreal” and credited the transgender women who came before her with helping make the achievement possible. “I carry that with me into every room,” she added.

Concluding her short speech, Schreiber said she had found her “fashion family” and could not be happier to be part of it.

She also offered an emotional tribute to her family, thanking them for their unconditional support and for helping her pursue her dreams. “I’m so lucky to be supported by you,” she said.

Schreiber additionally thanked Valentino, both for creating her outfit and for introducing her to the fashion community while continuing to support her journey.

Watts shares the model and her older brother, 19-year-old Sasha Schreiber, with her former partner, fellow actor Liev Schreiber, 58, with whom she was in a relationship from 2005 to 2016.

Schreiber, who married Taylor Neisen in 2023, spoke in May to Variety about his initial reaction after Kai came out as transgender.

‘Kai was always who Kai is. But I suppose the most profound moment was her asking us to change her pronouns,’ he said. ‘To be honest with you, it didn’t feel like that big of a deal to me only because Kai had been so feminine for so long.’

He added, ‘Kai is such a fighter. It’s important that she goes, “Hey, I am trans,” and, “Look at me,” and, “F*** you. F*** off.”‘

But the Ray Donovan actor – who previously disputed claims that his daughter is a ‘nepo baby’ – steered clear of giving advice to the parents of other transgender children, saying he feared he would ‘overstep’ by treating all situations similarly.

Following his split from Watts, the two actors have maintained a positive co-parenting relationship for their two teens.

‘We’re doing things very differently,’ Watts said while speaking to Net-a-Porter in 2019. ‘I’m pretty proud of us, corny as that may sound.

‘We’ve made it our absolute priority to be good and kind to each other and we’re absolutely committed to that,’ she added.

Following her split from Schreiber, The Ring star began a relationship with The Morning Show and Almost Famous actor Billy Crudup, with whom she tied the knot in 2023.
