A South Carolina mother is accused of attacking her two young children with a knife and a “blunt object” inside their home over the weekend, authorities said.
Taylor Morgan Gosnell, 35, was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted murder after the alleged assault involving children ages 3 and 6.
Deputies with the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office went to a home in the 1400 block of Bud Arthur Bridge Road shortly after 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 26 to conduct a welfare check, according to an agency news release.
When deputies arrived, they found the two children unattended with injuries that appeared to have been inflicted by a knife, officials said. Both were taken to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center for treatment and additional evaluation.
Investigators said they believe Gosnell attacked the children during the overnight hours, before law enforcement was notified. Authorities allege that both a knife and a blunt object were used in the assault.
As of Sunday, the children were still hospitalized in stable condition and were expected to recover from their injuries.
The 7th Circuit Solicitor’s Office said the 6-year-old sustained such severe damage to one arm that amputation could be necessary, Greenville, South Carolina, Fox affiliate WHNS reported.

Prosecutors also said the home bore evidence of a violent struggle. Several televisions and mirrors had reportedly been smashed.
Gosnell returned to the residence while deputies were still investigating. She was detained and taken to a nearby hospital for an evaluation, but authorities said she allegedly tried to escape from the ambulance during transport.
She was later booked into the Spartanburg County Detention Facility. At a Sunday bond hearing, a judge ordered Gosnell held without bond, the sheriff’s office confirmed to Law&Crime.
The attempted-murder case is not Gosnell’s first involving alleged child harm. She was free on bond from a February 2024 arrest in which she faced two counts of unlawfully placing a child at risk of harm, causing harm to a child or willfully abandoning a child, local newspaper The State reported.
Her bond in that earlier case was set at $5,000 for each count. Those charges reportedly remain unresolved.
Court records show Gosnell is scheduled to appear again for a first-appearance hearing on Nov. 12, court records show.
