CHICAGO () — A newly engaged couple added an unforgettable moment to their visit to Soldier Field after their Bears-inspired costumes and a kiss put them on Monday Night Football.
Chicago native Derek Demko and his partner, Megan Brown, live in Los Angeles and both work as actors. For the Bears game, they arrived dressed as coaches from different chapters of the franchise’s history: Demko portrayed current coach Ben Johnson, while Brown paid tribute to former coach Mike Ditka.
The couple got engaged the previous Thursday at the comedy theater where they first met. Days later, they continued celebrating in the Soldier Field stands, where television cameras caught them sharing a kiss in their costumes.
“We brought a sign that said we had just gotten engaged. But definitely not that early in the game. It was like first quarter when it happened and all of a sudden, our phones started blowing up,” Demko said.

Now, the couple wants the Bears to play a role in their wedding festivities.
“So, we’re going to do everything we can to get addresses and invite every Bears player, coach and every person affiliated with the Bears who wants to come to our wedding,” Brown said.
The wedding may be held either in the spring or the following fall, the couple said.
