“Avengers: Endgame Encore” is dominating the box office, but the rerelease has also left some fans frustrated. In the Looper video above, discover why part of the Marvel audience believes the theatrical event has delivered an unfair experience.
The film arrives during 2026’s biggest box-office week so far, bringing 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame” back to cinemas ahead of “Avengers: Doomsday.” While the movie remains essentially a theatrical return for Marvel’s previous Avengers finale, “Encore” adds new post-credit material designed to connect the events of “Endgame” with the upcoming “Doomsday.”
That setup comes with an important limitation: only IMAX and Infinity Vision screenings include all four additional scenes. Audiences who purchased standard tickets will see just three of the new sequences, leaving them without one key piece of footage—and sparking plenty of complaints among Marvel fans.

Three of the four scenes are available to everyone. The first expands the closing dance between Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), with the Loki variant played by Tom Hiddleston visiting the pair. Another shows Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.) capturing Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), though his motive remains unclear. The third reinterprets the metallic noise heard during the original “Endgame” credits, revealing that Doom is forging his mask in a sequence reminiscent of Tony Stark creating his Iron Man armor in 2008’s “Iron Man.”
The exclusive fourth scene unfolds inside the Time Variance Authority, the timeline-monitoring organization introduced in “Loki” and featured in “Deadpool & Wolverine.” Mobius M. Mobius (Owen Wilson), O.B. (Ke Huy Quan), and Casey (Eugene Cordero) watch as the entire Multiverse hurtles toward collapse. Alongside a cameo from the TVA-connected “God of Stories” Loki, the sequence strongly suggests the agency will be central to “Avengers: Doomsday.” Fans who skipped the premium formats are understandably upset about missing that setup.
