Heartbreaking new details have emerged about the death of Life Goes On star Chad Lowe’s 13-year-old daughter, Fiona.
Documents released by the County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner confirm that Fiona died by suicide.
The Medical Examiner’s records state that Fiona died in a hospital on Tuesday, September 29.
The disclosure follows a statement from Fiona’s family that included information about the national suicide prevention hotline.
The family of Chad, 58—who is the younger brother of actor Rob Lowe, 62—announced Fiona’s death on Tuesday and urged anyone experiencing mental-health struggles to seek support through the suicide prevention helpline.
‘We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona. She was a loving young girl who was smart, creative and loved to dance. She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives,’ the family said in a statement to Page Six.

The Medical Examiner’s report appeared to differ from accounts previously given to TMZ by law-enforcement sources, who said Fiona had died at home on Tuesday. Those sources said authorities were called to the residence at 12.10am.
According to Page Six, parents at Fiona’s school received an email from the principal on Tuesday informing them that a student had died. The message did not identify the student.
The email expressed condolences to the student’s family and said that “counselors are available to meet with students and staff who may need emotional support during this difficult time.”

“Her passing is devastating for our entire family,” the family said, urging anyone struggling with their mental health to contact the suicide prevention helpline.

The County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner said Fiona’s body had been released to her family, while the case remains open.

The actor also shared a photo of all three of his daughters in February last year, showing them visiting the ruins of their childhood home in Los Angeles, following the devastating Palisades fire.
The girls were seen with their arms around each other as they looked on at the ruins.
‘Almost a month after we evacuated our girls finally got to go back to see what’s left of their home,’ he wrote in the caption.
‘The way they’ve handled this whole devastating experience is nothing short of remarkable. I am in awe of their spirit and resilience. Helping them navigate these tough times is my sole purpose. Being their dad is my life’s greatest joy and privilege.’
In January, the actor wrote about the ‘despair’ he felt after losing his home in the fires.
‘One year ago today, our lives got turned upside down by a completely preventable catastrophe. It’s hard not to let the anger, despair, and frustration overwhelm. Losing everything I ever owned and the home we raised our family in is still deeply painful to this day,’ he shared on Instagram.

‘However, this terrible experience has been a powerful reminder of this simple truth – we can’t always control what happens to us in this life but we can control how we respond. And I have been so incredibly proud of how my wife Kim and our daughters have strived to make the absolute best of this extraordinarily difficult circumstance. I am in awe of their resilience.’
He added, ‘Also, we are buoyed by the outpouring of support, assistance, and well wishes from so many people in our lives. The way people have responded has given us great comfort, hope and strength to rebuild our lives. Thank you one and all!’
‘We will continue to honor those who lost their lives in these fires, and to attempt to lift up all of our neighbors whose grief we share.’
