A Texas mother has been jailed after authorities say she shot and killed her two sons inside their family home in Waxahachie.
Colleen Nichole Lemmon, 42, faces two counts of capital murder in the deaths of 21-year-old Christopher Scott Pitre and his 15-year-old brother, the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Authorities had not released the younger victim’s name as of the latest update.
Deputies were dispatched to a home on Big Sky Drive at about 4:15 a.m. Thursday after receiving a report of “an unknown emergency,” according to the sheriff’s office.
When they arrived, deputies found both boys suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Christopher Pitre was pronounced dead at the scene. His younger brother was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition but later died from his injuries, officials said.
Lemmon remained at the residence when deputies arrived. She had non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital before being booked on preliminary charges, authorities said.
Investigators later concluded there was probable cause to believe Lemmon shot both victims, citing “corroborating evidence,” the sheriff’s office said.
Officials did not immediately disclose what preceded the shooting. The victims’ father has been notified of their deaths, law enforcement said.
“My deepest sympathies go out to the victims’ father, family members, and loved ones involved in this tragic incident,” Ellis County Sheriff Brad Norman said in a statement. “They will remain in our prayers during this difficult time.”
Lemmon remains held at the Ellis County Jail. Authorities said a bond decision is expected after her arraignment.
