Trump picks team for new 'Super Intelligence Force'

President Donald Trump announced Sunday that he is creating a new Super Intelligence Force (SIF), naming the officials who will oversee America’s push to advance artificial intelligence.

Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton will head the task force. He will work alongside Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew Ferguson, Pentagon Chief Technology Officer Emil Michael and Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor.

The group will coordinate the federal government’s engagement with religious organizations, super intelligence providers, consumers and artificial intelligence companies.

Trump said the SIF would help ensure that the United States remains the global leader in AI—an industry he described as potentially larger than the Industrial Revolution and the internet—while protecting American interests and improving the lives of US citizens.

The task force, led by Clayton, will report directly to Trump and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.

Trump announced the initiative in a post on Truth Social Sunday morning, saying it was created in response to the White House Accord on Super Intelligence, which he hosted the previous week.

Last Tuesday, he brought some of the world’s most influential technology executives to the White House, including Meta chief Mark Zuckerberg, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei.

During that meeting, Trump said the government would begin referring to artificial intelligence as “super intelligence” in all official communications.

“We’re going to be signing a document today at about 5 o’clock, renaming artificial intelligence, because it’s not artificial, we all agree on that,” Trump said.

“We’re going to be renaming it super intelligence,” Trump added.

Trump’s strong backing for AI, or SI, comes as Democrats including Senator Bernie Sanders call for a pause in further development. Critics fear the technology could displace American workers or leave them at a disadvantage.

White House officials, however, have emphasized the need for US AI laboratories to continue moving forward despite those concerns. They argue that American technologists must lead the AI boom to prevent China and other rivals from dominating the field.

Trump made the announcement alongside executives from major US AI companies who attended the White House session. The group included Anthropic’s Dario Amodei, Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg, Nvidia’s Jensen Huang, OpenAI’s Greg Brockman, X owner Elon Musk, Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Amazon’s Jeff Bezos.

Earlier that day, the administration launched America.gov, an AI-powered website intended to help citizens access federal information and services, including online passport applications and Medicaid enrollment.

“Anyone who has used Grok or Gemini or ChatGPT will understand instantly how to use America.gov,” Trump said while unveiling the site, referring to the widely used AI models.

The president also said government officials and technology executives had signed “almost a Constitution, in a way” concerning AI—an agreement he described as “really a form of protection.”

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg later said he and others signed an AI safety accord at the White House.

‘We drafted a set of principles and commitments around building robust internal controls and detecting if there are any issues with the technology, coupled with multiple layers of auditing and control,’ he said.

Musk addressed reporters, correcting himself after errantly referring to ‘super intelligence’ as ‘AI’ when Trump was watching. Trump laughed and thanked Musk after the executive corrected himself.
