Karoline Leavitt scores cushy Fox News job after White House exit

Former White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt is joining Fox News after leaving the Trump administration in August.

Leavitt, 29, stepped away from her White House role to spend more time with her two children. According to The New York Times, she has now signed on as a contributor to Fox News.

Contributors for major cable news networks typically appear as guest analysts when they are booked for individual broadcasts.

She is scheduled to begin on November 1, the report said.

Leavitt was contacted for comment.

Her appointment was announced days after President Donald Trump sharply criticized Fox News for declining to air live coverage of several of his campaign events ahead of the midterm elections.

“Sad to see that Fox & Friends (Sunday) is not covering our packed house and incredibly enthusiastic (beyond!) Rally that took place in Ohio last night, or the ones in Alabama, Texas, or Oklahoma over the past two days,” Trump wrote on social media Sunday morning.

“It’s the old undercurrent at FoxNews! Other networks are reporting about these Rallies, and really positively, like ‘crazy!’ Our people want to see our Rallies, and reports on our Rallies, on FoxNews, or they will very quickly stop watching (like I am doing right now!).”

Trump accused the network of devoting more attention to communists and socialists. He attributed what he described as poor editorial decisions to “the same loser that fired the great Maria Bartiromo,” referring to the former Fox Business host who parted ways with the network weeks earlier.

Leavitt, who is firmly still in the center of the MAGA movement, has been given speaking positions at major GOP and White House events and prime-time Fox News hits since departing at the end of August

Leavitt remains firmly aligned with the MAGA movement and has taken speaking roles at major Republican and White House events, as well as appearing in prime-time segments on Fox News since leaving the administration in late August

Leavitt gave birth to her daughter, Viviana, known as “Vivi,” in May. When announcing her departure, she said she would continue advocating publicly for the MAGA movement and the Republican Party. Since then, she has appeared on Fox News and spoken at several high-profile Republican events.

Alongside appearances on the prime-time programs hosted by Sean Hannity and Jesse Watters, Leavitt secured prominent speaking opportunities at the GOP midterm convention in Dallas and at last week’s White House launch of an artificial intelligence-powered government website.

Although Trump’s relationship with the Rupert Murdoch-owned network appears strained at times, the president has brought several senior officials into his administration from Fox’s ranks.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth was a regular weekend host on Fox News before Trump chose him to lead the Pentagon.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy previously worked for Fox Business, while his wife, Rachel Campos Duffy, remains employed by the network.

Trump has favored Fox News for years, requiring the network to be shown on televisions throughout the White House, executive departments and federal agencies, as well as aboard Air Force One.

The close ties between Trump and Fox News also run in the opposite direction.

Lara Trump, the president’s daughter-in-law and Eric Trump’s wife, hosts a weekend program on Fox News.

Leavitt now follows in the footsteps of Trump's first-term press secretary Kayleigh McEnany, the co-host of the network's day time program 'Outnumbered,' in joining Fox News

Leavitt is now following in the footsteps of several press secretaries before her who have headed for cable following stints at the White House.

Trump’s first-term press secretary Kayleigh McEnany currently serves as a co-host of Fox News’ ‘Outnumbered’ daytime program. President George W Bush’s ex-press secretary Dana Perino also hosts several programs for the network.

Jen Psaki, the ex-press sec for President Joe Biden, now hosts a prime-time show on MS NOW.
