Mother Says Illinois Woman Vanished as Boyfriend Came Home Alone

Authorities in Illinois are asking for the public’s help in locating a 24-year-old woman who has been missing for more than a week.

The Palatine Police Department says Alyssa Smith disappeared on September 30 after traveling to Chicago with her boyfriend. She never returned home, her mother told News Outlet.

Rebecca Smith has since turned to social media, sharing missing-person flyers and asking for help bringing her daughter home.

Rebecca Smith said Alyssa’s boyfriend, Jacob Ray Caso, came back from Chicago alone.

Caso shared a missing-person poster for Smith online, adding a message that read, “Time to come home. No one is mad at you.”

Authorities have not accused Caso of a crime or alleged that he acted improperly.

“Since receiving the missing-person report, Palatine Police detectives have been actively investigating Smith’s whereabouts and following up on information received regarding possible sightings,” police said.

Investigators said Smith may have been spotted Saturday, Oct. 3, in Chicago’s Grant Park area and around Cicero Avenue and Roosevelt Road.

Detectives are working to determine whether those reports are credible while continuing to search for information about her whereabouts.

Smith’s social media profile indicates that she may work at a Chipotle restaurant.

She is described as a White woman who is about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs between 135 and 140 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes.

Smith has multiple piercings and several tattoos, including a distinctive “Pennywise” clown tattoo on her left shoulder.

She was reportedly wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, light khaki pants or sweatpants, and white Adidas shoes when she disappeared.

Anyone who sees Smith or knows where she may be should contact local police or call 911 immediately.

News Outlet has contacted Jacob Ray Caso and the Palatine Police Department for comment.
