Tyler Marquart stepped into a much bigger role for the Carle Place Frogs during his senior season.
At 17, Marquart transitioned from a blocking fullback as a junior into a central offensive weapon. Now lining up at halfback, he has paired his speed with remarkably reliable hands.
“Against Lawrence, I put up around 200 receiving yards — against Valley Stream North I put up around 100 receiving yards, 70 rushing yards,” he told The Post.
“I’m going to do whatever I can to get that first down for our team — just a player trying to do it for the guys, helping everybody else out,” Marquart added.
Marquart began his final high school football season expecting to reprise last year’s role. Instead, the coaching staff saw more potential in him, handed him expanded responsibilities and watched him rise to the challenge.
After a productive opening stretch, Marquart — a catcher who hopes to play college baseball — is now considering whether football could offer him another opportunity next season.
“If a football program finds interest in me, I would tell them to reach out,” he said. “Obviously this has been a big surprise, but it may end up being an option for me.”

For now, Marquart remains focused on helping his 1-3 team reverse course as the season enters its decisive stretch. The next test comes Saturday against Locust Valley.
“I think we’ll bounce back,” he said. “The boys have really had grit and determination.”
Champ Ducks honored
Every Duck gets its moment.
Suffolk County celebrated the hometown Atlantic League champions this week, with County Executive Ed Romaine proclaiming Oct. 6 as Long Island Ducks Day following the club’s historic season in Central Islip.
The Ducks won a franchise-best 80 games during the regular season, then swept the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs in the club’s final three-game series to secure a playoff berth.
Long Island continued its run by sweeping the Hagerstown Flying Boxcars in the divisional round before defeating the Blue Crabs again in the championship series. The title marked the franchise’s fifth overall championship.
QuackerJack added another honor, earning the 2026 Atlantic League Mascot of the Year award.
