JONESVILLE, Fla. – Sebastian Danel Fernandez-Matayoshi, 24, of Orlando, faces aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and burglary with battery charges after allegedly attacking a man with a hammer at Jonesville Park in August. He also remains charged in connection with a separate burglary reported in January 2024.
According to an Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy’s report, the alleged confrontation followed an argument between the victim and Fernandez-Matayoshi over a woman at a bar earlier that night. The woman later left the bar with Fernandez-Matayoshi.
At approximately 4 a.m. on Aug. 8, the woman contacted the victim and arranged to meet him at Jonesville Park, 14100 NW 32nd Avenue. She told him she wanted to retrieve cocaine from a car. While the pair sat inside the victim’s vehicle, Fernandez-Matayoshi allegedly approached and attempted to strike the victim with a hammer. The victim exited the car, and Fernandez-Matayoshi allegedly struck him several more times before leaving the park with the woman.
The deputy reported that the victim suffered one laceration requiring two stitches and another that was treated with a bandage.
Fernandez-Matayoshi has been charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and burglary with battery. He has no prior criminal convictions.

He was arrested in early September in connection with a separate January 2024 incident. In that case, he allegedly entered an apartment and then a woman’s bedroom after she had told him he was no longer welcome there. The woman had reportedly told him to leave after he allegedly pushed her to the ground earlier that evening. Fernandez-Matayoshi posted a $15,000 bond and was released.
A warrant related to the August attack was issued about two weeks later, and Fernandez-Matayoshi was arrested on Sept. 28. He told Court Services that he is a student at the University of Central Florida and had been in Alachua County for only one day. He was initially held without bail, but on Oct. 7, Judge Denise Ferrero denied a State Attorney’s Office request to keep him jailed without bail and set bail at $100,000. He was released yesterday.
