Elon Musk shared a sweet on-camera moment with his daughter Azure when the four-year-old unexpectedly joined him during a livestream from an event promoting his companies.
Azure is one of four children Musk, 55, shares with tech executive Shivon Zilis, 40. She was born in November 2021 alongside her twin brother, Strider.
The surprise appearance came just a week after Musk and Zilis announced their sudden separation.
Musk was taking part by video link in the X Takeover event at Tesla’s global headquarters in Austin, Texas, when his conversation about developing the Tesla Roadster was interrupted by his young daughter.
As Azure appeared to enter the room, Musk turned away from the camera and said, “Hey guys, I think I’ve got to sign off here.” Moments later, she appeared on screen.
The audience erupted in cheers as Musk laughed and introduced them to Azure as “supporters of Tesla.”
Azure responded with a small sound, prompting more laughter. Musk then told her, “There’s like 2,000 people out there, so quite a lot of people.”
Turning back to the crowd, he added, “I’ve got to go hang out with the kids, so I look forward to next time.” Before leaving, Azure leaned toward the camera, appearing wide-eyed with wonder as she looked out at the audience.

The convention showcased Musk’s companies, Tesla and SpaceX, with discussions centered on artificial intelligence, energy and robotics. Its high-profile speakers included Nicki Minaj and Musk’s mother, Maye Musk.
Last Friday, Zilis shared an emotional message on social media about the end of their relationship. “It’s hard to go from in love to let go in a week with no warning, but that’s how it is sometimes,” she wrote.
Musk has 14 known children with four different women. His first son, Nevada Alexander, died in 2002 at 10 weeks old from sudden infant death syndrome.
He became a father with Justine Wilson, 54. Following their son’s death, the couple had twins Griffin and Vivian Jenna in 2004, followed by triplets Kai, Saxon and Damian in 2006. Vivian Jenna is transgender and is now estranged from Musk.
Musk’s next child was X Æ A-Xii, whom he had with singer Grimes—whose real name is Claire Boucher, 38—in May 2020.
Zilis later became the mother of twins Azure and Strider, who were born in November 2021. Just weeks afterward, Musk and Grimes welcomed their second child, Exa Dark Sideræl Musk, via surrogate.
In June 2022, Musk and Grimes had their third and final child together, Techno Mechanicus.
Arcadia Musk, Musk’s third child with Zilis, was born in February 2024. Their fourth child together, and Musk’s most recent, Seldon Lycurgus, arrived in February 2025.

Musk also had a baby named Romulus with MAGA influencer Ashley St. Clair, 28, in September 2024, between the births of Arcadia and Seldon Lycurgus.

Grimes’s legal dispute with Mr Musk ended in August 2024, the result of which was kept confidential. But a now-deleted social media post by the singer appeared to reveal she had custody of the children every other week

His children with Ms St. Clair and Grimes have been the subject of bitter public custody battles.
In September 2023, Grimes and Mr Musk went to court in a multi-million-dollar case over their three children X Æ A-Xii, Exa Dark Sideræl, and Techno Mechanicus.
Mr Musk filed a lawsuit in Texas to establish a parent-child relationship, but Grimes countersued in California seeking physical custody.
The conflicting state jurisdictions added to the complexity of the issue, but the battle was ended in August 2024.
While the final arrangement was kept confidential, Grimes appeared to imply she has custody of the children every other week in a now-deleted social media post.
She had told her followers on X: ‘It’s my week without my kids so if u wanna get responses from me it’s now or every second week after this.’
Ms St. Clair also took Mr Musk to court in a custody battle over their son Romulus in February 2025, which is still ongoing.
Ms St. Clair filed for sole custody five months after he was born.
Last month, she publicly claimed she turned down a $40million non-disclosure agreement (NDA) to not take part in an upcoming documentary about Mr Musk, saying in the New York Times, ‘my children’s dignity is not a commodity’.
Mr Musk denied offering the sum, but noted he does provide financial support to her and Romulus.
He has now countersued for full custody of Romulus in January this year after Ms St Clair announced support of the trans community.
He wrote on X: ‘I will be filing for full custody today, given her statements implying she might transition a one-year-old boy.’
Ms St Clair denies she said this.
The friction came when Ms St Clair posted a public apology on X over past comments she made about Romulus’s half-sister, Vivian Jenna Wilson – Mr Musk’s estranged transgender daughter – and pledged support for the trans community.
