Trump tests his brand-new flak Katie Zacharia, 41

Katie Zacharia will face her first major test as White House press secretary at an unusual 9:30 a.m. briefing.

Her rapid, 72-hour rise to the most prominent media role in the country comes as President Donald Trump confronts a barrage of damaging headlines and an increasingly difficult political climate.

Zacharia, a 41-year-old lawyer and longtime political commentator, is succeeding Karoline Leavitt and stepping directly into a hostile media environment. She is expected to face relentless questioning over a series of controversies gathering around the administration.

Among the most pressing issues is the growing controversy involving senior campaign and administration advisers Chris LaCivita and James Blair.

The two men have come under intense scrutiny after reports revealed they received hundreds of thousands of dollars for advising the pro-Russian government of Republika Srpska in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The overseas consulting arrangement prompted Trump to distance himself from the pair in a post on Truth Social. He described them as “outside consultants” and said he would act immediately if irreconcilable conflicts of interest were confirmed.

Meanwhile, scrutiny has intensified around Kimberly Guilfoyle, the US ambassador to Greece.

Guilfoyle is facing mounting pressure over allegations that she sought a $100,000 donation to help pay personal credit card debt in return for political access, along with other claims of unethical conduct that the administration is working to contain.

Adding to the new press secretary’s challenges, a federal judge abruptly ordered the Department of Homeland Security to halt its national television advertising campaign.

The judge found that taxpayer-funded promotional advertisements featuring the President likely exceeded legal limits.

Zacharia’s performance will also be judged against Leavitt, who earned some of the strongest reviews among Trump’s political allies.

“She could not have been better,” Trump said of Leavitt on Monday.

Even as the pressure mounts, Zacharia’s supporters argue that her background has prepared her for the unforgiving White House podium.

Born in California and a graduate of Pepperdine Law, Zacharia has spent the last two years as a fierce defender of the MAGA movement on Fox News and Newsmax.

Calling herself a “hardline Trump supporter,” she drew attention after writing a New York Post opinion piece that labeled Trump “the greatest president in US history.”

She previously made national headlines by refusing to remove her signature MAGA hat after her local gym asked her not to wear it during workouts.

Zacharia’s political roots trace back to 2006, when she served as a White House intern under President George W. Bush, before later joining Trump’s 2024 campaign apparatus in crucial battleground swing states.

Earlier this year, she served as the on-camera face of the Department of Homeland Security, steering communications for Kristi Noem’s aggressive border enforcement campaign during an intense six-week tenure.

Most recently, she served as a strategic communications adviser for Trump Media & Technology Group, the parent company of Truth Social, while remaining a fixture on cable news.

Described by colleagues to Our News Outlet as ‘straight out of central casting,’ Zacharia, who has been married to producer Tyler Zacharia since 2011, becomes the seventh consecutive woman to hold the post of White House Press Secretary.
